BuddyPress is a Project by the WordPress Team to create a Social Networking add-on to WordPress MU or WordPress Multi User which is like a self hosted version of WordPress.com which you can use to Launch your very own WordPress Blog Host .

This BuddyPress addon will let you convert your default WordPress MU installation into a full fledge Social Networking site complete with Extended Profile, Groups, Friends, Private Messaging, Forums and of course Blogs ! After the previous accusation of the domain www.blo.gs (that’s a great domain name hack) from Yahoo ! WordPress founder ( Matt ) has struck Gold once again this time its the accusation of another premium Domain WP.COM from Yahoo (again) !

WP is also a shorthand for WordPress that has been used by WordPress guys for quite a few years. When they found out that the domain wp.com was owned by Yahoo ! rather than some one else like WashingtonPost they had been trying to get hold of it since then and ultimately their efforts paid off.

What should we do with WP.com? that’s the question Matt is asking to WordPress Lovers out there, currently it only redirect to WordPress.com but its not a very good use of a great name like this. To be Honest i think they should turn WP.COM into a Micro Blogging service similar to Tumblr i think that will be the best use of the domain and in short time they will beat Tumblr !

To my surprise it was earlier than I expected , its the first major release after WordPress 2.5 and brings a cool new admin interface.I installed WordPress 2.7 yesterday on my personal blog Ehsan.pk and have been trying it out and its been working smoothly so far.

WordPress 2.7 Brings loads of new features that WordPress users have been expecting for a long time , first is the new WordPress Admin Dashboard with new drag and drop dashboard elements , QuickPress for posting short handy posts from the dashboard, comment threading , paging and you will also be able to reply to comments directly from the dashboard ! the new WordPress also bring a new Sticky Posts feature.

But i think the most important features of this new WordPress Release are the Single Click Plugin Install and the built-in WordPress Automatic Upgrade Feature so every time  a new WordPress release comes out , you wont have to download and manually upload WordPress files instead you will be able to automatically upgrade your blog to the new version direct from the admin panel .

Well most of you know about the Micro Blogging service Twitter where you can post status updates of what you are currently doing and you can follow your other friends on Twitter and see what they are doing but some of WordPress fans like me wanted to get everything or something that is in Twitter into WordPress , and i started looking for Micro Blogging theme for WordPress and found one theme based exactly on the design of Twitter and i used that theme to setup a Micro Blog on Micro Diary but it was just the interface not the functionality of Twitter.

Now WordPress Founder Matt and has announced a Free Open Source Theme called Prologue for WordPress it basically adds Twitter like functionality to WordPress but its not made for extensive use but you can modify it to setup something like Twitter,but as it is it’s ideal for a community of 10 to 13 people working on a project or a small community of people sharing with each other what they are doing ,Once Logged in at the Top it shows a box where you can type what you are doing or just write a short blog post and add tags, some of other features of this Prologue theme are comments, permalinks, RSS feeds, you can also show Gravatars beside someone’s username and by clicking the username you can see messages posted by that user or click on tags to see posts with same tags, while the RSS Feeds can be used for almost everything you can get RSS Feed for the whole Blog , each author or each tag etc.
